Why native plants

Gardens that give back

Every garden I design is a small sanctuary. Native and naturalized plants don't just look beautiful through the seasons — they feed and shelter the butterflies, bees, and songbirds that keep our ecosystem alive.

These photos weren't staged. This is simply what happens when a garden is planted with pollinators in mind.

About

Welcome to my world!

I'm Patrizia — a Greater Pittsburgh Area-based garden designer focused on renovating and creating sustainable gardens with native and naturalized plants to give beneficial pollinators a safe place to thrive.

My love for nature comes from my Nonno, who would spend so much time in his garden at his countryside house in Monopoli, Italy — where I was born and raised.

With a B.S. in Environmental and Forestry Sciences and a M.S. in Landscape Design and Management, I have a deep understanding of what plants need and of the best ways to achieve a low-maintenance but gorgeous garden that will keep on giving.

I was the owner of a successful landscaping company for 6 years and I designed and installed well over a hundred designs — but now it's time to go back to my origins and focus solely on my true passion: bringing beauty into people's homes through plants!

In my free time I love to hike with my four-legged friend, bury my head in a fantasy book, and have fun with my beautiful son and husband.

How we can grow together

1

Garden Design Consultations

This consultation lasts one hour and happens at your house. It is the first step towards a design — or I can simply answer specific questions you may have about your garden. This is your time, and we can talk about anything you want!

2

Garden Design

After our first consultation I will provide you with an estimate for a custom design. The cost covers a 2D digital landscaping plan, a plant list with photos and descriptions of every plant in your design, and a one-hour online design presentation. We can then work together on finding the best way to make your design come to life!

3

Workshops

Whether you want to learn how to plant, prune, or generally take care of your garden — I am your girl! I think plants are fun and interesting, and I love to share my knowledge with everyone who is willing to listen. It can be just you and me, or gather your friends and let's have some fun!

A little peek into my work

Every garden begins as a hand-crafted design. Here is the drawing for each project, followed by the garden as it grows into it.

What people say about me

"

We are so lucky to have found Pat! She offered a landscape-based solution for our 2-level yard that dramatically cut down on renovation costs, and it happens to be much more beautiful. The plants are interesting and varied. From the initial consultation, in the design process, and pre- and post-installation, she always listened and provided prompt answers to our questions and requests. The result is so beautiful and it's been fun to watch our garden start to bloom! Highly recommend!!

"

The designs Pat created were absolutely breathtaking. Once the creation we envisioned was completed we were more than pleased. Pat is an expert in her field of botany, explaining in detail how to care for each plant or flower to ensure continuous success. A true angel of nature.

"

Patrizia's design was spectacular! She really knows how to select beautiful, indigenous plants that complement each other — in colors, textures, and the rhythm of changes through the season. We've asked Patrizia to expand her design vision into a new section this year and we're looking forward to enjoying the whole garden as everything grows together over the years.

"

Patrizia is so thoughtful, knowledgeable, and generous with her expertise. Patrizia understood our priorities (ideally low-maintenance, beautiful, long-lasting, and also friendly to the local ecosystem) and designed a lovely planting plan that checked every box. Patrizia's design is so much better than anything we could have cobbled together through pinterest/gardening books/asking my grandmother, and was well worth the cost.

"

Patrizia came out to my property personally to discuss the geography for water management, plant management, and terracing the property. She was very knowledgeable, answered all of my questions in depth, and was supportive of my creative ideas. After our consultation I felt well informed, my plans were validated or corrected as needed, and now I can confidently begin improving my yard this spring.
